The Most Complete Tour of Ilha Grande

If you want to discover the wild and unspoiled side of Ilha Grande — the side most tourists never see — the "Volta à Ilha" tour is the ultimate experience. In 7 to 8 hours of sailing, you'll travel along the island's ocean coast, passing nearly deserted beaches, crystal-clear waters, and landscapes that seem to belong to another planet.

This is the only tour that reaches Aventureiro Beach — home to the famous reclining coconut tree, a postcard image of Ilha Grande. Navigating the open sea requires a boat authorized by the Port Authority, making the experience exclusive and premium.

Complete Itinerary: Caxadaço, Parnaioca and Aventureiro

Departure at 9 am from Vila do Abraão, return between 5 pm and 6 pm. The classic route covers beaches that would take days of hiking to reach on foot, but which the speedboat reaches in minutes.

Caxadaço Beach — Hidden behind a rocky cliff, with only 15 meters of sand. It is one of the most secluded and beautiful beaches on the coast of Rio de Janeiro. Crystal clear waters and almost no tourists.

Parnaioca Beach — Considered by many to be the most beautiful on Ilha Grande. Almost deserted (only 6 permanent residents), with a river flowing into the sea and centuries-old almond trees on the sand. The sunset in Parnaioca is legendary among those who have taken this trip.

Aventureiro Beach — The longest stop on the tour (1 to 2 hours). Here you'll find the iconic reclining coconut tree, a postcard image of Ilha Grande. Authentic Caicara village with rustic campsites. Climb to the Espia viewpoint for a breathtaking panoramic view. Limited to 560 visitors per day — those arriving by boat have priority.

Praia dos Meros — A crystal-clear cove teeming with marine life, ideal for snorkeling. It's common to spot turtles, octopuses, and colorful schools of fish.

Differences between a Tour of the Island and a Half Tour

The Half-Circle tour covers the sheltered north coast (Lagoa Azul, Lagoa Verde, Saco do Céu) — calm sea, ideal for families and beginners. The Island Tour covers the south ocean coast (Caxadaço, Parnaioca, Aventureiro) — open sea, wild beaches, an adventurous experience. The Half-Circle tour costs between R$ 180 and R$ 250 and is almost never cancelled.

The Volta tour costs between R$250 and R$300, takes longer, and depends on favorable weather conditions. For those who have two days on the island, doing both is ideal.

Prices 2026 and What's Included

Price: R$ 250 to R$ 300 per person in a shared boat or speedboat (12 to 28 passengers). Includes a boat equipped for open sea, mineral water, cooler with ice, floats, life jackets, and an experienced skipper. Does not include lunch, snorkeling equipment, or drinks. Payment via Pix, credit card (3 installments), or cash.

Best Time to Go and Essential Tips

The best time to book the Island Tour is between April and September, when the sea is calmer and the winds are less intense. Crucial tip: book within the first few days of your trip to have an alternative date in case the tour is canceled due to weather. Bring Dramamine if you get seasick (open sea is more rocky than the Half-Island Tour), comfortable shoes for climbing to the viewpoint at Aventureiro, sunscreen, and plenty of water.

Book your Ilha Grande Tour

If you can only take one tour in Ilha Grande, take this one. The leaning coconut tree, the deserted beaches, and the sailing along the ocean coast create a memory you will cherish forever. Few destinations in the world offer this level of experience for this price.
